A Travelers Tale

One of the great things about travelling is the people you meet and brief interactions you have with them. Being a software developer by trade my daily life doesn’t involve hordes of new people. Over the last 4 months we have made the acquaintance of hundreds of new people, each with a story to tell or an insight to give. I love piecing together these superficial encounters imagining where they are headed in life and who they really are.

From the newly married couple in the Maldives who were a superficial clone of us, to the newly engaged couple we met in the tree houses of Lao. To the darker stories of the mentally ill man (self-confessed) escaping past transgressions and hoping for a new life in Cambodia to the chef whose unlikely heroism during a terrorist attack led him to the army where the death of a friend in his arms led him on a rampage massacring women and children. Through to the adventurous stories of people climbing the highest peaks or venturing into the wildest wildernesses and to the stories of the common travellers sharing their favourite locations and experiences. Theses meetings add a wonderful backdrop that mix with our own tales and experiences to create a rich memory of our journey.
