Moments after arriving at Dan & Amy’s we were off to the mountains. A week before summer and the mountains are covered in so much snow that in Australia we would be snowboarding and skiing like it was the best season ever! We spent the weekend White Water rafting, rock climbing and relaxing in our monstrous log cabin by the river.
Saturday was spent on the Wenatchee River, at the time a Grade 3 river. The rafting was fantastic and nothing like the Nymbodia at home. It was flowing fast and the rapids were huge pressure waves rather than drops or chutes. The river snakes through snow capped peaks and evergreen forests down into the orchard spangled plains (trying to get in some spangled usage while we are here). It was exhilarating and breathtaking at the same time!![]()
The next day was spent doing some easy hiking and climbing in the hills. We encountered a rattle snake who obligingly gave us a little rattle as we got close to inspect it. The climbing was also basic which was good for my shoulders but the surrounding views were magnificent. It is no wonder that everyone in the north-west seems to be the outdoorsy type. ![]()
