We have landed in Costa Rica! Our expensive escape from Cuba was thoroughly enjoyable, I could really get used to travelling business class everywhere! Upon landing a sense of familiarity washed over us that instantly made us comfortable. I had not recognised alot of the angst that had built up in Cuba. The lack of advertising and overt signs of capitalism in Cuba had added an extra layer of foreignness to the trip that had weighed us down a little. Burger King and Condominium advertising lifted all that quickly
We were soon checked into the Costa Rica Backpackers (pool and free wireless) and exploring San Jose. San Jose is made up of gun shops, dress shops and food shops. The sheer number of dress shops overwhelmed poor Kahlia who had been starved of the female pass time of window shopping in Cuba. The usually budget conscious Kahlia succumbed to the pressure and acquired a dress. the guilt of the splurge almost overcoming her on the way home.
