Costa Rica is shaping up to be my favourite country so far. It’s clearly touristy and maybe over developed but the activities look really cool. Any country that has so many ties to Pirates has to be cool!

Their coinage here looks a lot like it’s modelled on doubloons and other pirate currency. The animal mascots of piracy abound; parrots & macaws, spider & squirrel monkeys.

The most disturbing link however is the amount of handgun stores and their patrons. We were looking at one such store today and next to us were two youths (15 or 16) buying two boxes of handgun ammunition!

The sun is nearly setting so we are going to lock ourselves in our room and count our booty, yo ho yo ho.
