Where’s the party at?

Mexico 001 Mexico 004 Mexico 006

Cancun is immense. If you took the Gold Coast, mated it with the Noosa then fed the child steroids for 30 years you would have something resembling Cancun. Another way (maybe a little more illustrative) it’s 35 km of beautiful white sand beach and turquoise waters crammed with 24,000 rooms in over 140 resorts… immense.

It looks like a fun place to come for a resort holiday, there are some really interesting day tours and the Mexican food is still well priced in the tourist areas.

We however decided to foray into the world of Couch Surfing! Kahlia heard about the idea in Utila and it’s appeal was instant. She logged on and secured us a place within hours of finding out about it. We stayed with Minerva and her lovely family in the suburbs of Cancun. I was a little worried about it at first (and I’m amazed at the level of trust to leave strangers in your home while your at work) but it worked out to be fantastic.

I was sorely disappointed to find out that Tequila is cheaper in the supermarkets than in duty free, and cheaper yet in America than in Mexico! It was nice to see they gave out free tasting’s of the major brands, this worked into our budget nicely :P
