There is a saying that goes “There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it’s easy.” so it can go with price. I neglected to look at our itinerary from LA to Kuala Lumpur, simply picking the cheapest. After 25 hours of flights and waiting, we had visited Taipei, Sabah and finally our destination mainland Malaysia. Another 3 hours saw us in our hotel in Saigon, a little worse for wear.
Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon is easier to write), made a valiant attempt to become my favourite Asian city but still slipped into second place behind Bangkok. You can’t compete against Thai food. It’s a busy and lively city where the Pho Bo is fantastic and always available. Our room was basic but very nice for $8. We decided to leave quickly as we wanted to wait and see if Nathan would join us before seeing the sites. So off to Hoi An we go (24 hour sleeper bus)
