Where is Hoi An?

Vietnam 013 Vietnam 020Vietnam 016

Underwater it would seem. Torrential rain had enveloped the town and the river is no longer confined to it’s banks. The ever entrepreneurial locals were selling boat rides through the flooded streets.

Kahlia and I walked around the high ground, being ever told “you buy!” or “you look in my shop” with a tone that seemed quite hostile. The down didn’t endear itself to us like it has done for so many others. When the water receded and we wandered the more colonial sections which was more pleasant. And finally beer hoi was present selling schooners for 40c.

I had a pair of shoes made and we bicycled down to the beach one day which was pleasant. If your passing by Hoi An warrants a stop but if like Kahlia and I you travelled 500km just to visit it, you may be a little disappointed.
